MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – At least four individuals lost their lives in a devastating mine explosion in Mogadishu’s Hodan district on Monday night, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed that the explosion was caused by a land mine planted inside a building in the neighborhood, leading to the unfortunate demise of the victims.
All of the deceased were young residents of Hodan district who were enjoying a gathering in the area. The intended target of the blast was reported to be a police officer, who fortunately happened to be away from home at the time of the incident.
The identity of those responsible for this appalling attack remains unknown, as no individual or group has claimed responsibility thus far.
Police are yet to speak on the incident.
The devastating event follows closely on the heels of another bomb blast just two days ago. That incident resulted in severe injuries to the personal secretary of opposition politician and Member of Parliament, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame. The explosion occurred when a bomb attached to the secretary’s vehicle was remotely detonated while traveling along Maka al-Mukarama street on Saturday.
The string of attacks has left the local community and authorities deeply concerned about the security situation in Mogadishu, prompting heightened vigilance and security measures in the capital.
