Former Somali Military Commander and Soldiers Arrested for Abandoning Front Lines

|

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – A former Somali military commander and several soldiers have been arrested after being accused of abandoning the front lines of the war without orders. The soldiers are currently under investigation to determine the reasons for their actions.

Hassan Ali Noor (Shuute), Chairman of the Court of First Instance for the Armed Forces, stated that soldiers and commanders imprisoned in Mogadishu are facing charges for opening doors to the enemy. He emphasized the importance of accountability for military personnel who betray their posts during wartime.

Governor Shuute also confirmed that soldiers who left the battlefield have been imprisoned, while praising those who remain at the front lines for their resilience. He urged them to stay strong during Ramadan and continue defending the people and the country.

“The soldiers who deserted and fled to Hamar are locked up. Those still at the frontlines must continue to work hard. This is a crucial time, so don’t let your resolve falter,” said Chairman Shuute of the Armed Forces Court.

The Governor declared that soldiers who abandon their posts are essentially considered dead, urging all military personnel to honor their oaths and sacrifice their lives for the defense of the Somali people and the country.

“Even a former commander left his position. But remember, no matter how great a commander is, it won’t matter if they abandon their duty. Whoever flees from the battlefield will face consequences,” Governor Shuute declared.

This arrest comes at a time when Al-Shabaab has regained control over areas and districts in the Middle Shabelle region that were previously under the authority of the Somali government and local forces.
