Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – Fighting has resumed in the war-torn city of Laascaanood, Sool region on Monday for the 15th day amid a heavy shelling in many parts of the city, according to the few locals who remain in the city.
Since February 6, there has been heavy fighting in the northern Somali city of Las Anod (Laascaanood) between troops of Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland and local militia from the Dhulbahante clan in northern Somalia.
So far, at least 82 people have died and 400 have been wounded, the paramedics and hospitals said.
According to the local clan fighters, the Monday fighting began after Somaliland forces attacked a local army station outside the city.
The exchange of heavy weaponry has resulted more than 85,000 people to flee from the city.
For its part, Somaliland blamed the two-week-long war in the city of Laascaanood on the local forces, which it said attacked military bases.
