New details have emerged regarding the intense fighting that took place earlier today in the Eel Hareri area of the Hiran region

Eel Hareri (KAAB TV) – New details have emerged regarding the intense fighting that took place earlier today in the Eel Hareri area of the Hiran region, between the Maawisleida Hawadle militia and the militant group Al-Shabaab.

According to reports, the conflict began when Al-Shabaab launched an attack using explosive-laden vehicles targeting a position held by the Maawisley forces. This initial assault triggered direct confrontations between the two sides, resulting in two separate battles over the course of the day.

A Maawisleida Hawadle army officer spoke to the media, stating that their forces had inflicted a significant defeat on the Al-Shabaab attackers.

“The Khawarij [Al-Shabaab] attacked us today with two explosive vehicles. The first vehicle was aimed at destroying the local water well, but we managed to stop it. The second vehicle remains in the area,” said the officer.

He added that the bodies of 21 Al-Shabaab fighters were found on the battlefield, while two Maawisley soldiers lost their lives during the fighting.

Initial reports indicated that Al-Shabaab briefly gained control of Eel Hareri in the first wave of the assault. However, the latest updates confirm that Maawisleida Hawadle forces have now regained control of the area. Eel Hareri is located within the jurisdiction of the Moqokori district in the Hiran region.
