Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Former President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, has issued a strong statement accusing current President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of undermining the Constitution of the Transitional Federal Government.
In his statement, Farmaajo alleged that President Hassan Sheikh has deliberately violated key constitutional provisions, specifically citing Articles 50, 65, 87, and 92.
These articles outline responsibilities such as protecting the Constitution and national unity, the consultative role of the National Consultative Forum in major decisions, the process of federalization, and the political neutrality required of members of the Parliamentary Committee.
Farmaajo urged President Hassan Sheikh to uphold the commitments made during the National Consultative Conference, expand the council’s representation, and return to a path of unity, constitutional governance, and inclusive politics.
“Specifically, I propose that the President withdraw from unilateral actions, such as suspending the Constitution, enacting laws and forming election committees without consensus, and dismantling the National Consultative Forum.
These measures have led to political consequences that could have been avoided,” Farmaajo stated.
He also raised concerns about the misuse of state resources, accusing the administration of exploiting public assets for political campaigns and private organizations, including the inappropriate involvement of the national army, state media, and civil servants.
Farmaajo concluded his statement by calling on President Hassan Sheikh to engage with regional states that have withdrawn from the National Consultative Forum.
He emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue and urged the government to facilitate local elections in interim states to ensure political legitimacy and national cohesion.
