Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has issued a strong criticism of current President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accusing him of sabotaging the National Dialogue Forum and pursuing a partisan political agenda.
In a press statement, Farmaajo alleged that the recent Madasa Conference was orchestrated by President Hassan Sheikh with the intent to transform the platform into a personal political vehicle. He warned that such moves threaten national unity and stability.
“I strongly condemn President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s attempt to conduct a one-sided election using an illegitimate electoral committee, bypassing constitutional procedures and prior agreements,” Farmaajo stated. “This is clear evidence that the current leadership is only interested in consolidating power through unilateral action.”
Farmaajo urged the president to avoid actions that could plunge the country into crisis during the remainder of his constitutional term. He called on President Hassan Sheikh to prioritize national interests by combating terrorism, engaging the federal states absent from the forum, and fulfilling his commitments under the National Consultation process.
Finally, the former president appealed to the leaders of Galmudug, South West, Hirshabelle, SSC-Khatumo, and the Governor of Banadir Region to uphold their duty to the Somali people by supporting an inclusive and lawful political system. He warned against joining political processes that lack legal and consensual legitimacy.
