Darul-Nimca (KAAB TV) – According to the Wall Africa Journal (WAJ), Ethiopian government warplanes have launched attacks against Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region. The airstrikes targeted areas where the militant group was believed to be located, including the Daru-Nimca area.
Local residents reported hearing loud and heavy shelling in the forests of Darul-Nimca, which led to fires in parts of the region. This marks the first time Ethiopian warplanes have directly engaged in combat against Al-Shabaab.
In addition, American and Turkish drones have been utilized to bomb Al-Shabaab positions in support of the Somali Defense Forces (DF). Ethiopia maintains a significant military presence in Somalia, particularly in the Bay Bakool and Gedo regions, where many of its soldiers serve as part of the African Union peacekeeping mission.
