Erdogan and Trump Discuss Strengthening US-Turkey Relations

|

Ankara (KAAB TV) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which they discussed a range of topics, primarily focusing on strengthening the relationship between their two countries, which has been strained in recent years.

The conversation also touched on key issues, including the situation in Syria, which has evolved significantly due to Turkey’s involvement, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Additionally, President Erdogan urged Trump to lift the CAATSA sanctions, a federal law imposing sanctions on Turkey. He also called for the completion of Turkey’s agreement to receive F-16 fighter jets and for negotiations to resume regarding Turkey’s acquisition of F-35 aircraft from the United States.

The US-Turkey relationship has been fraught with challenges in recent years, but with Trump’s re-election, he has expressed a desire to restore and strengthen ties between the two nations.
