UNITED STATES (KAAB TV) — Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has officially announced his resignation as Director of the Department of Energy Efficiency within the U.S. government.
Appointed by President Donald Trump in 2024, Musk was tasked with spearheading initiatives to reduce energy spending across federal agencies. His tenure was marked by sweeping cost-cutting measures, including significant staff reductions in agencies such as USAID.
“I am very grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to serve the country. It has been a challenging experience, but I have learned a great deal,” Musk said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
With his departure from public office, Musk is expected to refocus his attention on his business ventures, particularly in advanced technology and space exploration.
