Egypt Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Stability and Security

CAIRO (KAAB TV) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badar Abdelatty emphasized the critical importance of Somalia’s stability for the peace and security of the Horn of Africa during his first official conversation with Somalia’s newly appointed Foreign Minister, Abdisalan Abdi Ali.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry announced that Abdelatty congratulated Abdi Ali on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the role.

The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between Cairo and Mogadishu, aiming to bolster regional development and stability. They also underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination in regional and international forums to address mutual challenges.

Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as its national institutions. He pledged continued Egyptian assistance in Somalia’s fight against terrorism and extremism.

On the topic of bilateral relations, Abdelatty highlighted the historic and strategic partnership between the two nations, which was elevated during Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s visit to Egypt in January.

Minister Abdi Ali expressed gratitude for Egypt’s ongoing support and commended its contributions to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and broader efforts to promote peace and stability in the country.
