Mogadishu (KAAB TV) — On Wednesday, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, met with Somalia’s National Security Adviser, Hussein Sheikh Ali, on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum. The two officials discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Egypt and Somalia across various sectors.
Minister Abdel Aty welcomed the recent progress in diplomatic ties and stressed the importance of further deepening cooperation in political, economic, and security fields to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
He highlighted the need to strengthen trade and investment partnerships, building on the outcomes of the Egypt-Somalia Business Forum held in Cairo in January 2025. He also expressed Egypt’s readiness to expand its support through training programs offered by Egyptian institutions in areas related to capacity building and development.
Dr. Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to contributing to the African Union’s stabilization efforts in Somalia, emphasizing that Somalia’s security and stability are vital to the broader region’s peace.
For his part, National Security Adviser Hussein Sheikh Ali expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian government for its continued support and reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
