Diplomatic Revolt at UN: Dozens Walk Out During Netanyahu’s Address

|

New York (KAAB TV) – Over 100 diplomats staged a walkout in New York moments before Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly.

The walkout came in response to Netanyahu’s planned remarks, which centered on his government’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza and marked criticism of recent decisions by Western nations to recognize Palestinian statehood.

As he entered the chamber, many delegations rose and exited in protest before he even spoke — leaving large sections of the hall empty.

In his speech, Netanyahu adopted a defiant tone. He repeatedly rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza, defended Israel’s military operations as necessary for dismantling Hamas, and warned against recognizing a Palestinian state near Jerusalem.

One of his more provocative lines compared Palestinian statehood to “giving al‑Qaeda a state one mile from New York City.”

Israel also made an extraordinary move by broadcasting Netanyahu’s speech into Gaza via loudspeakers and claiming to send it to residents’ phones — a tactic that drew condemnation and raised ethical questions about messaging during wartime.

Reactions, Risks, and Ramifications

The walkout signals a sharp escalation in Israel’s diplomatic isolation. Several countries that have recently recognized Palestinian statehood — including Britain, France, Canada, and Australia — were among the most critical, breaking ranks with the historically stronger support coalition backing Israel.

Netanyahu ramped up his rhetoric against these moves, accusing them of rewarding violence: “The message … is that murdering Jews pays off.” He framed his campaign in Gaza as part of a broader confrontation with perceived regional threats, including Iran.

On the Palestinian side, leadership officials welcomed the diplomatic pushback and urged the U.N. to follow through on recognition and accountability measures.

Meanwhile, humanitarian groups warned that continued military operations in Gaza risk further catastrophic civilian suffering.

Observers note that today’s walkout may foreshadow greater fractures in international consensus and could intensify pressure on Israel in multilateral forums.

Already, debates are heating up over expanding sanctions, reexamining arms sales, and holding Israel accountable at international bodies such as the International Court of Justice.
