Lower Shabelle (Kaab TV) – The Danab Commando Unit of the Somali National Army carried out a planned security operation in the Towfiiq area, which falls under Tooratoorow in the Lower Shabelle region.
The operation targeted members of Al-Shabaab who were reportedly involved in harassing and harming local residents.
According to a statement issued by Somalia’s Ministry of Defense, the operation—conducted by Danab units—was successful.
Two Al-Shabaab members were captured, both suspected of being involved in extortion, intimidation, and abuses against civilians.
The statement added that one of the detainees, identified as Zakariye, was found during investigations to be the son of Macallin Cabdirahman, a well-known Al-Shabaab commander who is still being pursued by security forces.
Additionally, the Danab forces reported seizing a motorcycle used by Al-Shabaab for their activities, along with weapons and other materials believed to have been intended for carrying out terrorist acts against civilians.
In conclusion, the Ministry’s statement emphasized that Somali military officials will continue their sustained efforts to eliminate the Al-Shabaab group and strengthen the security and safety of the Somali people.
