Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The session of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, scheduled for today, was postponed following recent disruptions and internal disputes. A message sent to members confirmed that the next meeting will take place on Monday.
The Assembly typically convenes on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. However, Wednesday’s session descended into chaos when several MPs voiced strong opposition to Speaker Adan Madobe, particularly over the dismissal of MP Abdullahi Abib from the council.
Despite Speaker Madobe’s efforts to defuse tensions by appointing a crisis committee, the disagreement persisted. As a result, four Members of Parliament have been barred from attending further sessions.
Adding to the uncertainty, Speaker Adan Madobe is currently abroad in Algiers, Algeria, where he is attending the 38th Conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union (UIPA).
