Reports from the town indicate that fierce fighting is underway in parts of Baidoa, with opposing forces employing various types of weaponry against each other. Gunfire can be heard at the Baidoa Four-Way Junction (Afar-irdoodka) and other parts of the town, leaving civilians facing a climate of fear and uncertainty.
Preliminary reports also indicate that the fighting is taking place from multiple directions, with forces loyal to the Southwest State administration stating that they have launched an operation they termed “the liberation of Southwest State.”
Reports from the city indicate that the food storage warehouse located near the headquarters of the 60th Division of the Federal Government Forces has been burned down.
Meanwhile, forces supporting Laftagareen claimed that they seized parts of the town of Baidoa during the fighting, pushing out positions previously held by militia groups known as Salbalaar and Af-Balaar. Ugaas Hassan, representing the Laftagareen faction, stated that the operation is still ongoing, describing it as “the operation for the liberation of Southwest State.”
