Arab Parliament Backs Somalia and Yemen, Opposes Foreign Interference

Cairo (Kaab TV) — The Arab Parliament has affirmed that it will pursue regional and international political measures to support the security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia and Yemen, while emphatically rejecting any foreign interference in the internal affairs of either country.

In an official statement released on Saturday at the opening of the Arab Parliament’s second general assembly session of its second cycle in Cairo, held at the headquarters of the Arab League’s General Secretariat, the body stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity as fundamental principles of international relations.

The statement called for peaceful and political solutions to ongoing crises in the Arab world that preserve national unity and long-term stability.

It urged Arab governments and national parliaments to show full solidarity with Somalia and Yemen and to take concrete steps to help safeguard their security, political independence, and institutional legitimacy.

The Arab Parliament also reiterated its categorical rejection of any external actions that undermine the authority of legitimate state institutions in either country.

The declaration comes against the backdrop of heightened regional diplomatic activity following Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, a move that has drawn widespread regional and international condemnation as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In recent weeks, Somalia has received strong political backing from Arab League institutions and member states as Mogadishu seeks to consolidate international support amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Horn of Africa.
