Nairobi (Kaab TV) – A fierce fighting and indiscriminate shelling entered into the fourth day in Laascaanood town of Sool region between the Somaliland forces and the opposing local forces from the Dhulbahante clan.

The fighting which broke out on Monday resulted hundreds of deaths including civilians and the injury of several hundreds, according to local hospitals and journalists.

On Friday, Amnesty International said that they were ‘appalled by reports of large numbers of people killed, injured & displaced, & damage to homes & a hospital.’

“We are closely monitoring the crisis in #Lasanod. We are appalled by reports of large numbers of people killed, injured & displaced, and damage to homes and a hospital,” the rights group tweeted.
“Unlawful killings and other violations must end & there must be immediate unhindered access for humanitarian actors,” it added.

In the meantime, the United States said that indiscriminate shelling of civilians is unacceptable and must stop. “We call for an immediate de-escalation of violence in Lascanod, protection of civilians, unimpeded humanitarian access and for tensions to be resolved peacefully through dialogue,” the State Department’s Africa Bureau tweeted.
