Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Security in the Hawo Abdi area, located near Somalia’s capital, has rapidly deteriorated following an attack by the Al-Shabaab militant group this morning.
The brief yet intense conflict began with explosions, which were followed by direct combat between Al-Shabaab forces and Somali government troops. The clash resulted in several casualties, including both deaths and injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that Al-Shabaab militants entered the Hawo Abdi area, situated between Lafoole and Eleza Biyaha in the Lower Shabelle region.
In response, the Somali government deployed helicopters to target the Al-Shabaab fighters’ positions.
This attack is part of a recent uptick in Al-Shabaab operations, which have been increasingly shifting from the Middle Shabelle region toward the Lower Shabelle, as the conflict in the area escalates.
