Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, praised the Puntland Deravid forces for the military operations to destroy Daesh positions in the mountains of Bari region.
Speaking in Mogadishu on Tuesday, Prime Minister Barre expressed his government’s readiness to support Puntland’s efforts to defeat Daesh. “The Armed Forces of Somalia and the Ministry of Defense are ready to provide any necessary assistance to ensure the success of Puntland’s operations against Daesh,” he said.
The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government has also praised the people of Puntland for standing by the security forces who carried out the operation. A press release from the ministry said that they acknowledged the sacrifice made by the Puntland forces and sent condolences to the families of the soldiers who died.
“The government sends prayers to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country, people and religion. We send our condolences to their families and the Somali people. The Khawarij groups of ISIS and Al-Shabaab are equal enemies of Somalia, and we must unite to eradicate them,” said the press release.
The Puntland forces have reported significant success in their latest attacks, which have caused a lot of damage to Daesh militias. On Monday, the Puntland administration confirmed that several Daesh fighters were killed and 8 terrorist positions were captured in the ongoing operations in the mountains of Al-Miskaat in the Bari region.
