Mogadishu (Kaab TV) — A local female aid worker has been shot dead in Mogadishu, Somalia on Friday, according to the family.

Men armed with pistols shot dead a female polio vaccination worker, Shukri Al Mahad Alle, 32, in the Dayniile district.

Shukri was shot several times while sitting in the front of her house in the Issa Abdi neighborhood.

“We are very traumatised as we have no idea why Shukri was killed. The local police arrived but they have done nothing at all,” said a bereaved family member.

No group has yet claimed the responsibility of the female aid worker’s death.

Shukri was working with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She was among the social mobilizers deployed by UNICEF, through the ministry of health, to go house to house in Mogadishu to inform families about the polio vaccination campaign.

Authorities of the Somalia’s ministry of health have yet to comment on Shukri’s killing.
