Somalia’s senior Federal Government officials and members of the country’s legislative and executive institutions have arrived in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State, to attend the inauguration ceremony of the regional administration’s newly elected leader.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and other government officials are expected to take part in the ceremony honouring Liibaan Ahmed Hassan, who was recently elected by the Galmudug State Parliament.
Ahead of the event, Liibaan has welcomed several regional leaders and political figures to Dhusamareb.
Those arriving include officials from Hirshabelle, South West State and Northeastern State, as well as former Somali government officials, opposition politicians and other dignitaries expected to attend the inauguration.
The gathering brings together senior federal and regional representatives at a time when Galmudug is preparing for a leadership transition following the parliamentary election of its new leader.
