Puntland security forces carried out an operation in Bosaso, capital of Bari, targeting a network accused of drug trafficking and weapons.
The operation, conducted by the Bari Regional Police Command in the Laanta-Hawada and Xaafatu-Carab neighborhoods, resulted in the arrest of several key suspects allegedly linked to the network.
During the raids, security forces also seized quantities of hashish, an AK-47 rifle, and hand grenades reportedly stored at locations connected to the suspects.
According to police, those detained are suspected of playing various roles in the storage, distribution, and sale of narcotics.
The suspects include both men and women, and investigators are continuing inquiries to determine the full extent of the network’s activities and identify any additional individuals involved.
In a statement, the Bari Regional Police Command said the operation was part of Puntland’s broader efforts to combat drug trafficking, illegal arms possession, and organized crime.
The command stressed that similar operations would continue as authorities work to strengthen security and public safety across the region.
Police officials added that the suspects will be handed over to the relevant judicial authorities once investigations are completed and the necessary legal procedures have been finalized.
The operation comes amid an ongoing campaign by Puntland authorities to crack down on narcotics networks and illegal weapons, which security officials say pose a growing threat to stability and community safety in the region.
