The fourth day of the Somalia Financial Resilience Building Project is underway in Mogadishu, bringing together representatives from federal ministries and government institutions to strengthen the country’s capacity to prepare for and respond to climate-related shocks and natural disasters.
The initiative focuses on developing financial mechanisms that will enable the government to mobilize resources quickly during emergencies, reducing delays in disaster response and recovery efforts.
Participants are discussing strategies to improve risk financing, emergency preparedness and coordination among state institutions.
The project comes as Somalia continues to face recurring droughts, floods and other climate-related challenges that have caused significant humanitarian and economic losses in recent years.
Officials say building a stronger financial resilience framework is essential for reducing the impact of future disasters, protecting vulnerable communities and enhancing the country’s long-term economic stability.
