Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni on Sunday attended the state funeral of Muse Mohamed Guure (Diibeeye) in Garowe, honoring one of the founding figures of the Puntland administration who played a significant role in its establishment in 1998.
President Deni extended his condolences to the late Guure’s family, relatives, friends, and the people of Puntland, praying for Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaws and to give his loved ones patience and strength during this difficult time.
In his tribute, Deni described the late Muse Mohamed Guure as a respected statesman whose contributions were instrumental in laying the foundations of Puntland’s institutions.
He said Guure’s legacy of public service, leadership, and dedication to regional governance would be remembered by future generations.
Founded in 1998, Puntland became Somalia’s first functioning federal regional administration following the collapse of the central government.
Many of its founding leaders are widely credited with helping establish the region’s political institutions, security structures, and governance framework during one of Somalia’s most challenging periods.
Guure is remembered as one of the key figures who contributed to that process and helped shape Puntland’s early state-building efforts.
