DJIBOUTI (Kaab TV) – At least one child was killed and several other people were injured in a tragic traffic accident near the town of Iskoutir in Djibouti, on Sunday, according to local sources and emergency officials.

According to reports by Djibouti News Agency (ADI), the accident occurred on a busy road near Iskoutir when a passenger vehicle lost control and collided with another vehicle carrying civilians. Witnesses said the impact was severe, causing panic among nearby residents and travelers.

Reports indicate that the vehicle was travelling from Djibouti City to Ali Sabieh when it left the roadway for unknown reasons.

Emergency teams and local authorities rushed to the scene shortly after the crash, where several injured victims were found trapped inside damaged vehicles. The wounded were later transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while the child who died in the accident was confirmed dead at the scene.

Officials have not yet released the exact number of injured people, but reports indicate that several passengers suffered serious injuries, including fractures and head wounds.

The incident has renewed concerns about road safety in Djibouti, where traffic accidents continue to cause deaths and injuries, particularly on highways connecting towns and rural areas. Poor road infrastructure, limited traffic enforcement, and overcrowded vehicles are often blamed for the rising number of accidents across the country.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash but nothing has been found so far.
