Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a telephone conversation with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
The two sides discussed the situation in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region, particularly concerns over possible Israeli interference. They also condemned Somaliland’s reported plan to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.
The spokesperson for the Arab League Secretary-General, Gamal Roshdy, said both sides reaffirmed their support for peace and stability in the region, as well as Somalia’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
They also rejected any attempts to undermine Somalia’s independence.
The Arab League stated that it supports any measures Somalia takes to confront pressure or actions that could threaten the country’s unity and sovereignty following reports of Israeli recognition of Somaliland.
