Minister Fartaag Meets African Union Special Envoy to Strengthen National Security and Stability

MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The Minister of Interior Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, held a meeting with the African Union Special Envoy to Somalia, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene.

The meeting was attended by the National Security Advisor, Ambassador Aweis Haji, and the Director General of the Ministry of Interior Security, Yusuf Ali Mohamed.

The discussion focused on strengthening security cooperation, supporting the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and advancing joint efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the country. The Minister expressed his appreciation to the African Union for its important role in supporting the Somali government, particularly in the areas of security and national stabilization.

Ambassador Diene, in turn, reaffirmed the African Union’s commitment to continuing its support for Somalia in order to help achieve sustainable, Somali-led peace.

Both sides agreed to enhance coordination on security-related plans and initiatives, aligning them with the objectives of AUSSOM and the priorities of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The meeting was also attended by the AUSSOM Police Commissioner, AIGP Hillary Sao Kanu, and the AUSSOM Police Coordinator, ACP Samuel Okanta, who are actively involved in efforts to strengthen peace and security in Somalia.
