Sydney (Kaab TV) – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has threatened that his government will intensify efforts to strengthen laws banning firearms, following a shooting incident in which 15 people were killed at Bondi Beach in the city of Sydney.
Australia is among the countries where civilian firearms ownership is regulated, allowing individuals to purchase and carry certain types of weapons, although high-powered firearms capable of causing mass casualties are not included among those permitted.
The Sydney government is expected to issue an emergency decision regarding the incident, with reports indicating that the purchase and carrying of firearms may be banned nationwide across Australia in order to prevent further attacks in the country.
A son and his father reportedly carried out a mass shooting targeting Jewish people who were attending a celebration. The deaths of 15 people have been confirmed, with many others injured. The attack has sparked widespread condemnation and increased pressure on Australia to respond decisively.
The United States, which maintains strong relations with Australia, has reacted angrily to the incident. The U.S. Secretary of State stated that his country strongly condemns the attack, adding that such violence cannot be ignored.
