MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The Minister of Health and Social Care of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, has appointed new members to the National Health Professionals Council (G-MCQ), following the completion of the legal procedures and required consultations for establishing this important body, according to the Ministry of Health.
An official statement issued by the Minister’s Office on December 1, 2025, clarified that the appointments are in accordance with the Provisional Constitution, the National Health Professionals Council Act No. 31, and previous directives that outline the roles, responsibilities, and operational procedures of the council.
The newly appointed council consists of 15 members drawn from key government ministries, health organizations, civil society, and state institutions involved in training and developing the country’s health workforce.
The list of appointees includes medical experts, scholars, and representatives from national professional health associations.
The Minister stated that the council is expected to accelerate efforts to strengthen quality assurance of health professions, register practitioners, establish professional standards, and uphold ethical conduct in the delivery of health services across the country.
He also instructed the members to promptly begin carrying out their duties, working closely with other government institutions and the wider health sector.
Finally, the Minister urged the newly appointed members to demonstrate integrity, competence, and transparency to ensure the provision of high-quality healthcare services nationwide.
These appointments follow a recent decision welcomed by the National Health Professionals Council (NHPC) of Somalia, after the Supreme Court annulled the Ministry of Health’s appointment of a new Secretary-General and reaffirmed the council’s independence.
