Somali Prime Minister Heads to Morocco for Medays Forum Amid Shifting Global Dynamics

|

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre departed for Morocco on Tuesday morning to participate in the 17th edition of the Medays International Forum, one of the leading global platforms for dialogue on geopolitics, development, and international cooperation.

The forum, held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, will convene high-level representatives, policymakers, experts, and diplomats from more than 120 countries.

It serves as a venue for states, institutions, and thought leaders to exchange views on the rapidly evolving global landscape.

During his visit, Prime Minister Barre is scheduled to deliver a keynote address outlining Somalia’s current trajectory.

His speech is expected to highlight the government’s efforts to improve national security, consolidate state institutions, strengthen governance, and accelerate socio-economic priorities as the country advances toward stability and resilience.

The Medays Forum traditionally examines major international issues, with this year’s discussions focusing on shifting global power dynamics, the evolution of international security, economic transitions, and prospects for deeper regional and global integration.

The 2024/2025 edition, running from November 26 to 29, is held under the theme “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.”

The theme underscores rising geopolitical tensions, growing ideological divides, and the erosion of long-standing consensus within the international system—challenges that are increasingly shaping global governance and the future of multilateral cooperation.

The forum aims to offer practical recommendations, foster dialogue, and open avenues for renewed partnership as nations navigate an increasingly fragmented world.
