Addis Ababa (Kaab TV) – The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The trip, which had not been publicly announced beforehand, was reportedly undertaken privately, with the President departing from Mogadishu on a special flight and landing in Addis Ababa.

During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed are expected to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, good neighborliness, and the regional situation.

Reports further indicate that the talks will also focus on the situation in Jubbaland, in an effort to find a solution to the ongoing political dispute between the two sides a conflict that worsened after recent negotiations collapsed.

Reliable sources have told us that Abiy Ahmed will attempt to persuade President Hassan to resume dialogue with the aim of reviving the peace talks, which so far have not yielded any tangible results.

It is also possible that the Somali President may make a stopover in Kenya, where he is expected to hold similar discussions with President William Ruto.

Kenya has played a significant mediating role in the previous Kismayo negotiations, with its intelligence chief attending the meetings though he returned to Nairobi after the talks collapsed.

Additionally, reports suggest that plans are underway to reconvene and continue the discussions, as both the Federal Government of Somalia and Jubbaland had earlier agreed in principle to resume negotiations, as stated in recent press releases from both sides.

This carefully planned trip by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud comes at a time when the Somali government is advancing a controversial plan to establish a new administration in the Gedo region, independent of Jubbaland but recognized by the federal government.

However, it remains unclear how the situation will unfold, and observers are waiting to see the outcome of the ongoing diplomatic efforts, in which neighboring countries Kenya and Ethiopia are playing a key role.
