President Ali Gudlawe Condemns Armed Opposition, Urges Unity for Peace and Development in Hirshabelle

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – In a powerful and direct speech marking the anniversary of the Hirshabelle State administration, President Ali Gudlawe Hussein firmly denounced the use of armed resistance as a means to address political grievances.

The president made it clear that the era of resolving disputes through violence has come to an end and emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration for the progress of the region.

Speaking to a large audience of government officials, traditional elders, and members of the public, President Guudlawe sent a stern warning to opposition factions who have accused his administration of acting unilaterally.

He urged them to abandon militant tactics and instead engage in peaceful political discourse.

“The time of resolving disagreements through the barrel of a gun is over. If you are still holding onto weapons, know that Somalia is facing threats from many directions, and this is not the time to turn those weapons on each other,” said President Ali Gudlawe.

He continued by emphasizing that the focus should be on addressing the real challenges that threaten regional and national stability, particularly the activities of extremist groups and the pressing need for infrastructure development, education, and improved public services.

President Guudlawe also highlighted the importance of unity and collective responsibility in rebuilding the Middle Shabelle region and strengthening the broader Hirshabelle State.

He stressed that continued armed opposition not only undermines peace but also hinders the delivery of essential services and the implementation of development projects.

“Those who choose the path of armed opposition are not only delaying peace but also blocking progress in our communities. Our people deserve better—security, education, roads, clean water, and jobs. We must work together to deliver on these priorities,” he added.

The president’s remarks come at a critical time, as Hirshabelle continues to face security threats from Al-Shabaab militants, along with internal political tensions. His speech is seen as an appeal for reconciliation and a call for political maturity among rival factions.

He concluded his address by urging all stakeholders—politicians, civil society, traditional leaders, and youth—to join hands in shaping a peaceful and prosperous future for Hirshabelle.

The event celebrating the anniversary of the Hirshabelle administration served not only as a reflection on past achievements but also as a renewed call for unity and commitment to peace. The president’s message was clear: the future of Hirshabelle must be built through dialogue, not destruction.
