Somali Rescue Forum MPs Condemn President Hassan Sheikh and Parliamentary Speaker for Power Abuse

|

MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – A coalition of Somali lawmakers known as the Somali Rescue Forum, comprised of members of the Federal Parliament, has issued a unified and strongly worded statement accusing President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Speaker of the People’s Assembly Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Adan Madobe) of serious misconduct and violations of the country’s constitutional order.

In the official statement, the Forum alleged that President Hassan Sheikh has overstepped his executive authority and engaged in actions that contravene Somalia’s laws and democratic norms.

The MPs further accused Speaker Adan Madobe of colluding with the President to systematically erode the independence and integrity of the Federal Parliament.

“We, the Members of Parliament united under the Somali Rescue Forum, bring to the attention of the Somali public, political stakeholders, and the international community that the Federal Parliament has effectively been shut down by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Speaker Adan Madobe,” the statement declared.

The Forum expressed deep concern over what they described as a deliberate effort to paralyze the legislative branch of government.

According to the MPs, the 6th parliamentary session concluded without any meaningful legislative activity, and the 7th session has remained suspended for over a month without explanation or justification.

The lawmakers warned that such actions not only undermine Somalia’s fragile democratic institutions but also risk destabilizing the broader political landscape at a critical time for the nation’s recovery and state-building process.

The Somali Rescue Forum called on civil society, political actors, and international partners to closely monitor the situation and support efforts to restore the independence and proper functioning of the Federal Parliament.
