Strengthening Regional Ties: Somali Prime Minister Meets Djiboutian President to Discuss Security and Cooperation

Djibouti (KAAB TV) – During an official visit to the Republic of Djibouti, the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, held a high-level meeting with Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh. The talks, held at the presidential palace in Djibouti, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing pressing regional security issues.

The meeting underscored the deep historical and cultural ties between the two neighboring nations. Both leaders emphasized the need for increased collaboration in the areas of security, political stability, economic development, and regional integration. The leaders reiterated their mutual commitment to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between the Somali and Djiboutian peoples.

Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre highlighted the significant progress his administration has made in key sectors since taking office. He pointed to substantial achievements in national security, economic growth, political stabilization, and institutional development, crediting the success to strong inter-agency coordination and the dedication of the Somali people.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Hamsa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and citizens of Djibouti for their continued support and unwavering solidarity with Somalia. He emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in light of shared security concerns and regional peace initiatives. The Prime Minister also commended President Guelleh’s longstanding leadership and his vital role in promoting peace and stability throughout the Horn of Africa, especially within the Somali community both inside and outside Somalia.

President Ismail Omar Guelleh reaffirmed Djibouti’s steadfast support for Somalia, noting that his government and people stand firmly with the Somali nation. He expressed confidence in Somalia’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and build a prosperous future, and pledged continued collaboration in regional peacekeeping, counter-terrorism, and socio-economic development.
