Hargeisa (KAAB TV) – Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdirahman Dahir Adan, has expressed optimism that Somaliland may finally gain international recognition this year.
Currently on an official visit to the United States, the Minister urged both the Somaliland diaspora and citizens at home to unite in pursuit of this long-sought goal.
“I believe this is the year recognition will be achieved,” Minister Abdirahman stated. “We must come together, support one another, and work in unison—uniting both our hearts and minds—to make it a reality.”
He emphasized that the sense of nationalism within Somaliland continues to grow stronger each year, and that the people remain steadfast in their commitment to achieving full independence.
Over the past week, Minister Abdirahman met with several U.S. lawmakers who support Somaliland’s cause. He highlighted the potential for mutual interests between Somaliland and the United States, noting that cooperation could benefit both sides.
Somaliland has garnered increasing support from members of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. A bill recognizing Somaliland has already been introduced in both chambers of Congress.
