Aboorey (KAAB TV) – Reports have emerged of a significant offensive by Maawisley forces targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Hiran region, specifically in parts of the Abourey area where the group has been operating.
The operation focused on areas where the militants were believed to be hiding. A fierce clash between the two sides ensued, lasting nearly an hour.
While casualties were reported on both sides, the exact number of deaths and injuries remains unconfirmed. Officers leading the operation told national media that the group had sustained serious losses and that pursuit operations against Al-Shabaab militants are ongoing.
This offensive comes in response to Al-Shabaab’s recent recapture of the Abourey area earlier this month—an area that had been previously liberated from the group two years ago.
