General Langley Warns of Growing ISIS Threat in Somalia

|

New York (KAAB TV) – General Michael E. Langley, commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), revealed that ISIS (Daesh) has shifted its international operations to Somalia.

The statement was made during General Langley’s appearance before the United States Senate Armed Services Committee last week, where he outlined AFRICOM’s strategy for 2025. He emphasized the critical importance of Africa to the US Department of Defense’s strategic plans.

During his testimony, General Langley noted the escalating threat of terrorism in Africa, particularly from ISIS, which he confirmed is now directing its international operations from Somalia. He pointed out that extremist groups are exploiting the security and economic instability in the Horn of Africa, especially Somalia, to expand their networks.

“Africa remains a key strategic defense ally, but it has also become a breeding ground for terrorist organizations, which take advantage of the continent’s challenges to spread their ideologies,” said General Langley.

He issued a stark warning about the growing ISIS threat, stating, “ISIS controls an international network in Somalia. If left unchecked, this will directly affect the United States.”

This warning coincides with an increase in US counterterrorism efforts on the African continent. Recently, the US has played a crucial role in countering ISIS activities, particularly in the mountainous region of Calmikaad in Puntland’s Bari region.
