Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Somalia’s National Security and Intelligence Agency has taken control of two houses in the Garasbaaley district of the Banadir region, which were allegedly used as launch sites for mortars that bombarded the capital city, Mogadishu.
According to the agency, intelligence forces discovered that Al-Shabaab militants had been using these houses to fire mortars at the city. However, it was reported that the Somali military did not capture those responsible for the attacks.
In response, the Somali government has seized these houses, which were used by Al-Shabaab to carry out the bombings. The two adjacent houses are now under government control.
In addition to this, Somali forces are actively searching for other locations where Al-Shabaab may be hiding. Intelligence reports have also indicated that some of the recent mortar attacks originated from open ground.
The Somali government has deployed additional troops to areas where mortars have been fired, particularly near key sites such as the Somali Presidency and Aden Adde International Airport, which have been targeted in recent days. Security forces have begun intensified patrol operations in these regions.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who met with senior commanders and security officials the previous night, issued a stern warning: if Al-Shabaab launches another attack on the city, he will remove the officials responsible for security in Mogadishu from their posts.
