Somali Government Expels Swedish Consul Anna Saleem Högberg Amid Dispute

|

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Reports indicate that the Federal Government of Somalia has made the decision to expel Anna Saleem Högberg, the Consul and head of aid affairs for the Swedish government, according to Global Bar Magazine.

Although the Somali government has yet to release an official statement on the matter, sources suggest that her expulsion stems from a disagreement between the two parties.

The decision, made in March, involves Anna Saleem Högberg, who had served as the head of aid affairs for the Swedish government since 2022. Prior to her role in Somalia, she held a similar position in Sudan.

An informed source revealed to the newspaper that the dispute between Högberg and the office of Somalia’s Prime Minister was behind her expulsion. The report further stated that Högberg was accused of “defaming the government of Somalia.”
