Somalia and Oman Unite In Building Better Ports In Hobyo

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport of the Government of Somalia, MP Mohamud Aden Geesood, received a delegation led by the Minister of Transport, Ports and Technology of the Government of Oman Said Bin Hamud.

The meeting between the two Ministers was focused on how to build several ports, including Hobyo Port, which the Omani government wants to play a major role in its investment.

The meeting was attended by MPs from BFS, the committee in charge of the construction of Hobyo Port, some Somali businessmen and the Omani Ambassador to Somalia, together with heads of organizations based in Oman that are interested in financing the construction project of Hobyo port.

The Minister of Transport & Ports of Oman and his Deputy jointly promised that the Government of Oman will fully fund the construction of Hobyo Port & other ports in Somalia that need construction and investment, which can promote economic growth and infrastructure development in the region.
