GAROWE (KAAB TV) – The security forces of Puntland carried out a large-scale operation on Thursday night and arrested at least 7 people who are suspected of having links with the terrorist group Daesh. According to police sources, some of the arrested people have already been searched, while the authorities already have information about their movements.
The operation took place in an undisclosed location in Puntland
Security officials said that the arrested individuals are believed to be involved in activities linked to Daesh, although further investigations are underway to determine the extent of their alleged involvement.
In recent months, Puntland’s anti-terrorist operations have achieved success in liberating areas controlled by their militias, and ridding hundreds of them.
Daesh and other extremist groups have tried to establish positions in Somalia, especially in the mountainous region of Puntland. The security forces of the region have been actively targeting these groups to prevent their expansion.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the arrested suspects, and it is unclear whether they will face immediate charges or whether further questions will be asked. Puntland’s security agencies have called on the public to be vigilant and report any activity they suspect may threaten the stability of the region.
