CAIRO (KAAB TV) – The President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation who flew from Switzerland arrived last night in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, where they were welcomed.

President Hassan Sheikh has received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdulfattah Al-Sisi, who will hold critical meetings in the capital city of Cairo.

The two Presidents will discuss the strengthening of joint efforts to fight terrorism and how to accelerate cooperation in security and public safety in the region.

The reports also say that Hassan and Al-Sisii will focus their talks on issues related to the AUSSOM mission in which Egypt is taking part, the security cooperation agreement and other sensitive issues.

They will also focus on economic development, trade and investment, with the two governments prioritizing the promotion of trade and investment opportunities.

“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud thanked President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi for the warm invitation and how the Egyptian government always stands by Somalia, pointing out that the relationship between the two countries is based on brotherhood, strategic cooperation, and the common interests of the two peoples. ” was said in the text of Villa Somalia.

Somalia and Egypt have recently reached an understanding to reduce the tension between Ethiopia and Somalia as a result of the maritime agreement that Prime Minister Abiy signed with the Somaliland administration early last year.

The main objective of the Egyptian government is to directly engage in the plan to strengthen its presence in Somalia and compete with Ethiopia.

Analysts say that Egypt wants to have a military presence in Somalia to expand its influence in the strategic region of the Horn of Africa.

The Egyptian government is now expected to deploy its troops in Somalia, bringing them by air and sea, to be part of the operation in Somalia that started in the new year.
